Dr Morrow was appointed to the office on 17 January 2014 and sworn in before the Lord President of the Court of Session on 27 February 2014. A member of the Faculty of Advocates, Dr Morrow took silk in September 2015. In 2008 he was appointed President of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland from which post he retired in 2019.

Formerly Professor of Christian Ethics & Patristics and Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Divinity at the University of Aberdeen, formerly Moderator of the General Assembly (2003-4), and formerly President and Professor of Patristics (now Emeritus) at Princeton Theological Seminary (2004-12). Formerly Dean of the Chapel Royal in Scotland and Dean of the Order of the Thistle, formerly chair of the Edinburgh Sir Walter Scott Club (2019-22) and since 2013 Pro-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen. A trustee of the University of Aberdeen Development Trust and of several other bodies. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (2007), Knight Bachelor (2018), Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (2019), Territorial Decoration (1995).
Professor Gillian Black was appointed Linlithgow Pursuivant Extraordinary in September 2021. She is Professor of Scots Private Law at the University of Edinburgh, and a Commissioner at the Scottish Law Commission. After qualifying as a solicitor in 2002, she took up a lectureship at Edinburgh Law School in 2005 and completed her PhD on “Publicity Rights in Scots Law” in 2009. She is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and remains on the non-practising roll of the Law Society of Scotland.
Russell Hunter is a graduate of the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Russell is a solicitor who has worked in private practice and the public sector. Russell was appointed Lyon Clerk and Keeper of the Records by Her Majesty The Queen in 2018.
Julia McIntosh graduated with an honours degree in law from Edinburgh University in 2001, before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with ICAS. After qualifying, Julia worked at John Menzies plc for 10 years in the group finance team, where she also sat as Trustee on the board of the company’s two pension funds. Julia is currently Finance Director at a UK based independent fund manager, managing c.£6.5bn of infrastructure assets on behalf of predominantly UK pension fund investors.
Huw Sherrard is a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh, where he researches Scotland’s law of arms. He is a Trustee and Committee Member of the Heraldry Society of Scotland. Huw is also a Member of the Scotland Veterans Advisory and Pensions Committee, an advisory non-departmental public body sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, and has been its Secretary since 2021.
